Do you have a tattoo that you wish you could erase? If so, laser tattoo removal can give you a second chance for your skin.
Whether you’d like to remove an entire tattoo or just a portion of a larger design, our lasers at Remove a Tattoo are precise and versatile enough to achieve the look you want. We can even prepare your skin for a cover-up tattoo by lightening your existing ink.
How it Works
Laser tattoo removal works by accelerating the natural fading process that happens to tattoos over time.
Because the ink trapped in your skin is a foreign substance, your body’s immune system is constantly trying to remove it.
As the laser’s light is absorbed by the tattoo ink, the particles instantly shatter into tiny fragments. By breaking the ink into small fragments, we’re able to make it easier for your body to naturally eliminate it.
Lasers are the only way to break down tattoo ink without harming the surrounding skin. They’re the only treatment that can penetrate deep enough into the skin to harm the ink without causing damage to the skin itself.
After the weeks following your treatment, you’ll notice the appearance of your tattoo gradually lighten – this is your body flushing away the destroyed ink particles. A series of treatments is needed to completely remove the tattoo until it has been completely erased.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
During your initial consultation, Dr. Brotzman will assess your medical history and assure that you’re a good candidate for tattoo removal.
If you have any questions or concerns about the procedure, feel free to ask – we want you to feel confident with the choice you’re making for your skin.
Dr. Brotzman will also assess your tattoo and create a custom treatment plan based on your unique tattoo and skin tone.
Treatments with our Astanza Trinity laser are very fast – most are complete in five minutes or less depending on the complexity and size of the tattoo. During the treatment, we will numb your skin with cold air as we quickly pulse the laser over your skin.
Afterwards, we’ll bandage your tattoo and discuss aftercare tips for getting the best results out of your treatment. There’s no downtime after the procedure!
