In Wisconsin, warmth and the sun are fast becoming a distant memory. Winter is around the corner! If you are planning a vacation during the frozen months to come, and are in the midst of your tattoo removal journey, you should keep sun protection in mind. Remember that your treated tattoo site is more susceptible to sun burn; if you are sunburned when you arrive for your laser treatment, you visit will need to be rescheduled. Sunburned skin is sensitized to laser light and will blister if you proceed with the treatment. If you are tanned, you will need to wait until the tan fades as the tanned skin makes it harder for the laser to tell the difference between your normal pigment and the ink we are trying to remove. As with sun exposure, use of tanning booths during your laser tattoo removal process is to be avoided. Protect that skin!
